  • Will there be a Newsletter Feature in either VB 5, or in VB 4?

I have both Ver 4 and recently purchased Ver 5.

Will there be a Newsletter Feature in either VB 5, or in VB 4?

I'd like to send a newsletter that is either from the admincp or can be externally sent through a compatible source.

( I tried getting help at Vbulletin.org, and no help)

    David

There is none planned for VB4. The only one I know of from a 3rd party is called "microNEWSLETTER" but it was removed from vb.org by the author's request. You may be able to find it elsewhere if you Google for it- many authors maintain their own websites, no sure.

No way to predict what may come in time for VB5 but it's not something be worked on for a Gold or near-Gold release. Any suggestions for improvement for VB5 should be entered as a feature request into JIRA: http://tracker.vbulletin.com/

Later versions of vBulletin 4 allow integration with Vertical Response which is an Email-based Campaign Company.

No such integration is in vBulletin 5 at this time. This doesn't rule out integrations in the future. Many of these companies provide their own plugins and extensions on their websites to integrate with vBulletin.

David, could you please expand a bit on what more you are looking for in a Newsletter feature, which is not already available in the built in email function through admin-cp? Thanks.

Vertical Response has told me they cannot guarantee Inbox Delivery, just guaranteed delivery that includes spam folders. We are already using another web site that guarantees Inbox Delivery for sending invoices to our members. They have an excellent IP Track Record, but they do not provide a newsletter interface.

The ability to include pictures, graphics, etc (typically with emailed newsletters that are sent in html)

In the left column there is a link that says "Comment on this Issue" with the word Comment in bold.

Perhaps the fact they don't send Newsletters is why they can "guarantee" inbox delivery? If you start sending newsletters yourself it's a quick way to be flagged as a spammer.

Well, there has to be solution in landing legitimate htlm newsletters in a customers inbox. Since the internet started in 1995, we have never sent any spam to our customers.

Doesn't matter if you've sent spam. It matters what the customer does. If they decide they no longer want to see your newsletters and mark it as junk in their email client, they won't see it in their email box. It is easier and quicker to just block it in their email box than dealing with unsubscribing. If they mark it as junk on a service like hotmail or gmail, then you're marked as a spammer whether it is spam or not. Too many block it and you'll be kicked off those systems.

How can we become white listed?

Pay lots of money, is the very short answer.
