The staff need money to live on.
Money is not flowing in from renewals to pay them.
They cannot sell a Beta product to the wide public.

So, basically, we seem to agree.vB5 has the basics of a cms, but it does not have an article system yet. And in order to add that, it needs more than just a content type. Whether it needs what is needed for a good article system to be released as a forum/blog-system, is subject to argumentation. One could say that it was a good forum software in the past w/o that, one could also argue that, if it has to be done anyway, it should be done now so that forum/blog etc. can profit, too. I don't pick a side in this - my intention really just was to make clear that at the present given state, just adding an article content type would not be enough to make it a cms like I would want it.

Isn't it basically building a grid system that you can add modules to? Plus put content in categories. I mean you can already have different content types.

Not defending the decision, but having an article system worth the name would mean a lot more than just adding a content type.

If it is that easy, why not just let us test in the BETAs ?
I also didn't mean to say it is easy for users to add the article content type. I meant it should be relatively easy for the devs to add it, if the system was designed smartly.

I think it will be more than a year before we see any sort of CMS with VB5.

I don't agree with Wayne... the core component to a CMS is CONTENT. Articles = Content. The other services are social tools.

by jstearWhen can we expect the CMS to come out for VB5? Also, what functionality will be included with it?
