Hello,
It's been stated that the cms and groups will be released later but any data you may have in a 4.x cms will be saved.
I'd advise to wait for the cms to be released, if you use it already on your vb4 forum. -
Let's hope it does not turn out to be a beta version 6 and againand you pay we will have to fix after your developers, as we do now.

CMS will be included with the current license at no extra cost.
CMS will be in a point release (5.1??) after the initial Gold 5.0 'forum' release.
This has been stated by vBSi, but not the 5.1 bit (my guess)

It's funny, VB said the CMS will be released later on and now VB 5 is a CMS... so what's the official word molinari? VB is just going to add an article content thingy, tell us to move things around and that's it ?
If it is that easy, why not just let us test in the BETAs ?Comment

The portion of the cms most of our customers are using, is the article management one. That is not in vBulletin 5. The ability to create new pages, place items on them, static content, custom php pages, are all in vB5 right now.
The "cms" component is not yet in, and by that we mean the additional content types and article content types.
If you want to get access to the vBulletin 5 beta, you need to have a vBulletin 5 licenseComment

There are several components of the CMS product in vBulletin 4.X. The main components are: Page Layout with Grids and Layouts; Widgets for custom content; Article Publisher which includes Sections and the Articles themselves.
In vBulletin 5, the first two components of Page Layout and Widgets have become Site Builder. With Site Builder you can create custom pages, control their layout and place widgets for custom content. You can also edit most, if not all, pre-existing pages. This is sitewide. Pages are made up of Layouts (previously known as Grids) and Modules (previously known as Widgets). As the administrator, you can drag and drop to set this up in the front-end of any vBulletin 5 site. You store individual pages as "Page Templates". These templates can be for that unique page or you can reuse them for other pages. Each channel (forum, blog, and social group) has its own page that can be customized to fit your needs. Yes, each forum can have a unique layout if you wish.
So with Site Builder, you have the ease and luxury of custom pages offered by most CMS packages. It is actually easier than some CMS packages as you can see the results immediately and don't have to use the AdminCP. In this regard vBulletin 5 Connect can be called a CMS with three main types of content - Forums, Blogs and Social Groups. What it doesn't have currently is Article Publishing. The Article Publisher will come in an upcoming Feature Release (i.e. 5.X not 5.0.X). That will come in the future. This component will be rewritten completely and will not be ready for a 5.0.0 release.Translations provided by Google.

Parts that made the CMS useful can now be applied everywhere. These are now... for want of a better word and correct me if i am wrong, foundation parts of the software and things like article management are added later to utilize them.
I think the thing people are missing is that other things can also be built like this to utilize those foundation bits rather than be completely written on their own.
I suspect that writing the article management system later when all these things are done will be profoundly easier to create, maintain and add features to than the original oneHmmm. Cheese.Comment

Hmmm? I stated that Article Publishing was one of the main components. How that content is laid out and presented is also core to the CMS.Translations provided by Google.

I think it will be more than a year before we see any sort of CMS with VB5.Owner: Oracle Forums - General Discussion Forums.Comment

I also didn't mean to say it is easy for users to add the article content type. I meant it should be relatively easy for the devs to add it, if the system was designed smartly.
