I didn't leave vB4 I'm using it, however if all these comments are true:

    - it's a fair cop: I don't have any idea how to keep the correct tabs highlighted
    - editor: I can use the vB4 editor in the CMS but a lot of my users can't, unless I teach them. Simpler is likely to be more useful and lead to more content and more engagement.

The fact remains though, because I use vB4, without the calendar and having something that restores my CMS content from vB4 I can't even test it effectively to see how good it is (and I'm one of the people with an open mind, including about technical support).

With a vB5 license you do have 30 days ticket support.
Upgrade your LICENCE to vB5, as soon as it becomes GOLD you lose ticket support for vB3-4.
After 30 days you won't have ticket support for vB5 unless you pay $200.

The cost of ticket support is a red-herring

I bought vB4 when it first came out and I use it.

I don't have a big problem with the $200 for ticket support for vB5 if when vB5 Connect goes gold it has the calendar in it, whatever it is that "streams" your vB4 CMS content, and if the thing works.

The $200 dollars for ticket support is a minor issue as far as I'm concerned. Right now the only thing that's available is something I can't use and can't test effectively. So how can you possibly judge whether what's on offer is or is not reasonable value?

Is there anybody using vB4 currently (including the calendar and the CMS) who has successfull managed to test upgrading to this?

vBulletin 4 Forum does not have ticket support after 30 days from purchase. If you upgrade from 3.X you lose that. Not a lot of 3.X tickets these days though.

vBulletin 4 Publishing Suite does have ticket support.

Most people don't use ticket support after the first month or two.

..which I think is basically a way of saying that for the majority of users who don't need ticket support they get more choice because they can choose whether to have it or not.

So the cost of ticket support is a red herring. In reality you get more choice in the pricing system this way and that's fine.

So it means that I will have ticket support for my vB4 forum with my vB5 license?

You'll have 30 days of ticket support with vBulletin 4 Forum. Just like it has been since we've started selling vBulletin 4 Forum.

My ticket support was for infinetely because I have had the Suite license.
Gave it up for vB 5.
Can I have back my vB4 Suite license? vB 5 is unusable.

You stated Forum in your post. Suite and Forum are two different things.

vB5 is Beta... So it isn't meant to be used on a live site. Clearly says this on the home page of our site before you purchased.

No, you shouldn't have. You still should have ticket support for your suite license under the vBulletin 4 license you purchased.

There's a difference between saying "I bought vB5" and saying "I purchased an upgrade to vB5".

Given your vagueness, I'd have to guess it was the second, in which case, you know that you agreed to the new terms, and are possibly just arguing for the sake of it.

If it was the first, of course it doesn't affect non-upgraded vB4 licenses.

                              What's so hard to grasp?
