Is it true that I need to delete all notifications just so I can get rid of the little red box?
Don't get me wrong, I think notifications are a good idea but can't they just be automatically marked as read after they are read?

I asked this before but it may have been lost during your recent failure problem.

Honestly, even deleting all your notifications may not remove the red box- there is a known bug where you may see 1 message shown in the red box even with all notifications deleted. It seems to come and go.

There are also already improvement requests to handle notifications better- such as self deleting after you view them. It is another area being worked on.
