The vBulletin site has "upgraded" to vBulletin 5, which is the slowest dog of a script I have ever in my life experienced?
Is this some kind of joke? Who is responsible for this catastrophe?
You know, some of your paying customers come here for support!!!!
They don't come here to have to wait a ridiculous amount of time for your "latest script" to display the forumhome page or to display the screen into which they can post a question.
I'm not a fan of vB5 myself, but I wouldn't say the home page takes "a ridiculous amount of time" to load. Not for me anyway. It loads pretty much instantly and I don't have a crazy fast internet connection.

It is slow yes, much slower than the old site here. Noticeably slow but not ridiculously.
My office computer at work is on T3 and this site still lags. I was just about to upgrade to Vbulletin 5 but I am not so sure what to do anymore. If you guys are really pissed on the developers website then I am sure my community members will be really pissed at me for upgrading/downgrading? to Vbulletin 5

Not sure if its ridiculously slow, but it definitely is insanely slow, or overwhelmingly slow if you ask me.
I'm generally the patient type when it comes to vBulletin development as I'm a registered member here for 11 years and using it from the very beginning...but never not once saw this kind of slowness even with my 28.8k modem over analog phone line 13 years ago.
Page loading times are between 6 and 32 seconds for days now.
The javascript and css design is not that bad...I've seen worst...the hardware failure is fixed...what could be the problem ? Can you show us some CPU/Memory usage statistics ?
I hope that is not what we have come to expect. Saying its not that bad. With vbulletin we should expect nothing but great however since Ib has been in charge we are getting half baked and nothing that goes that extra mile as being really polished.
I know that 5.0.2 is going to address slowness - this is great, because it's one of the hugest problems with vB5. I think it actually has a ton of cool features, and I've enjoyed making my own custom...
I've been trying to setup vBulletin 5 for a few weeks now. I was working on some hooks and had the system in debug mode when I realized everything was running slower than normal yesterday. I thought maybe...
I woke up this morning and the vB 5 demo page looks *strangely* fast and without apparent errors!
for example FF used to give me a lot of issues in these past few days on demo page, but now not...
Overall Appearance/GUI
Updated, yes, and cleaner yes, but perhaps too much of a change. it looks and feels like a simple, dumbed-down version of a forum, and there are really no visible design...
Why is vb5 so much slower than 4.2.1 or even the 3.x versions? I have some seriously disgruntled users and I don't know what to tell them. Even here... this site is considerably slower than it used to...
