  • Facebook / Twitter buttons

    Hi gang,

several of my forum users are concerned about the facebook / twitter buttons on the forum does the forum code allow fb to collect user info just by being there ? or does the user actually have to click the button ..

    thanks in advance

The share buttons? They don't collect any information from the user just by being there. vBulletin doesn't even collect information when the user clicks on them. It loads the site to share to in a separate window. That window will track itself.

If you mean the Third-Party log in features where users can log in with Facebook, Twitter or Google. Then yes, these allow the user to be tracked when the user uses that service.

If you're really worried then both of these features can be turned off in the AdminCP. Share buttons under Settings → Options → Topic Display Options. Third-Party Logins under Settings → Options → Facebook Options and Settings → Options → Third-Party Login Options
