    To replace contentslider_default_background.png

    I'm trying to replace contentslider_default_background.png

I thought I had done this but the original background PNG continues to be displayed.

    What am I doing wrong?

You replaced the provided image with a new one but it still has the same name of contentslider_default_background.png?

Did you clear your browser cache? Images are cached in the browser and the browser may not update it immediately. This is best practice for static content.

If you use a CDN like Cloudflare, you need to clear its cache as well.

However, if you attach an image to your content the system will use that as the background. So each topic can have an image of its own and the default won't be used.

I'd already cleared the system cache. Purging that one image from Cloudflare's cache did the job, thanks.

For the record, the vBulletin System Cache would have no affect on this. vBulletin doesn't cache images directory. It tells your browser and/or CDN to cache them for at least two weeks.
