Facebook and Twitter share buttons

My users are quite divided about the FB and Twitter share buttons. So for now I have them turned off but want to know how I can enable them for only the author of the post. Also can they be moved? Say to the bottom of the posts?

I don't actually have a solution for this at this time. I suspect it is doable with template edits but I do not know what those are currently.
