  • [Bug / Issue] incomplete Welcome message in vBulletin PV aftter registration

    Hello. i configured to send a welcome message for new user after registration. some of my users report me that welcome message just has a title without any content. (empty content). i did some different tests with different senario and i found that there is a problem that welcome message has no content.

    first senario, i created a new user with my pc then i recived activation email after clicking on activation link, i registerd successfully then i recived a welcome message in my inbox of vbulletin. message was normal and complete with title and full text.

    second senario, again i created another new user with my pc. then i recived activation email but this time i opened email from my cellphone. and then click on activation URL just like before again i registerd successfully an i see sucessfull registeration on my cellphone browser. then i comeback to my pc and i did a refresh, i recived welcome message this time without any content and it show just title with empty content.

    the problem is that : when a user click on activation link from same network or ip public that she/he do her/his registeration, every thing is ok but if a user registerd with an ip address and did activation with another ip address, he/she will get incomplete private message.

    What is the exact text of the message?

    Where is it cut off?

    What devices and browsers are experiencing the issue?

      In the second scenario, only the title of the message is displayed and the full text of the message is not displayed.

      In this scenario, I opened the activation links in Chrome and Firefox browsers on Android.

        Really not what I asked and this is exactly why you're never satisfied with support. I don't want a screen shot. Screenshots do not help in situations like this. Especially when you blur stuff out.

        I need you to post the exact text for the title and body in a reply to this message. For the browser, I need to know the specific version of the browser used. There are 86 different versions of Chrome. They all work differently.

          Unfortunately i did not concern to your text. I satisfy your forum and your kind support and when ever any body consult me to run a forum i will suggest vbulletin as it's amazing. i appritiate all of your favour.

          I installed a fresh vbulletin and retest on it but still problem exist. Title and Text of body in private message that will send to user after registration are as bellow :

          [PM Title]
          Code:
          Welcome to {1}

          [PM Body]
          Code:
          Thanks for registering at {1}! We are glad you have chosen to be a part of our community and we hope you enjoy your stay.

          All the best,
          {1}

          I test it on Google Chrome version 87 and Firefox version 86, both were the same and it did not display private message that sent to user. (it display just title)

            And what is the character set and collation of the database? I am guessing your forum title has a character in it that ends the string/page because it isn't properly stored in UTF-8.

              I set the following Collation on the database and both had the same problem.
              Code:
              utf8_general_ci

              AND

              latin1_swedish_ci
              The tests performed are on a fresh installed vBulletin and no other languages have been added to it, and all settings are by default.

                A fresh install of vBulletin 5.6.4 should use utf8mb4 as the character set and utf8mb4_general_ci as the character set...

                What happens if you create a topic on this site with the exact same title? The "A Place To Test Things Out" forum is designed for this purpose.

                What happens if you send a Private Message on this site with the exact same title? Though it should behave the same as a topic.

                  I created a new database in the format utf8mb4_general_ci again and reinstalled and configured vBulletin, but there was still the same problem.

                  Yes, I have a completely dedicated environment for vBulletin tests. I created a topic with the same title on the site and there was no problem. The title and text of the topic were displayed in full.

                  Also, after a user registered, I sent a private message with the same title and text to the user and there was no problem. The title and text of the message were displayed well.

                    That doesn't look like the text in your previous screenshots. In fact, it doesn't contain any UTF-8 characters at all. Therefore, it is an inaccurate test and does not represent your issue. This is why I originally asked for the entire text to be posted in a reply here so I could actually test and try to find the problem.

                    I cannot provide additional support if you continue to do something different than what is asked.
