Thanks Wayne. I reset & saw that text appeared.

The text in the first post is a vBulletin 4.X phrase format. The phrase in vBulletin 5.X should look like:

    Code:
    Hello {1},

We at {2} would like to wish you a happy birthday today!
Maybe it was translated for some reason in the past and the old translation is still there. Deleting any translations should allow it to revert to the default. If not, just copy the above into the translation field and save.

What is the plain text that appears in the phrase by default? When vBulletin 5 is purchased, licensed & downloaded, etc? I didn't alter the coding as noted. Did it corrupt from an older version we'd been using?

Plain text. You cannot use BBCode in emails.

What is the correct phrasing/text for the member birthday email? username & bbtitle aren't populating. Emails currently go out with this message in body:

    Hello $username,

$vboptions[bbtitle] wishes you a Happy Birthday today!
