I've noted discussion regarding file path & permissions. Is the error being generated due to my personal profile settings?

Where am I looking for attachment settings and what is the directory path that needs permissions edited? What should the permission setting be?

    Thanks.

Individual users do not have to do anything for attachments to work. By default attachments are stored in the database. If you have moved them to the file system and deleted the directory after you moved them, then you need to create that directory again. They won't move without a valid directory to start with. You can see where the directory should be by go to Attachments -> Attachment Storage Type.

If you have recently changed servers, the path is most likely different. It seems that no two servers are every configured the same. You will need to update the path. To do this, you need to follow these steps:
    1. Put your site into debug mode.
    2. Log into the AdminCP
    3. Go to Settings -> Options -> Version Info and Other Untouchables.
    4. Update the File Attachment Path to the new path. I recommend using the absolute path.
    5. Remove Debug Mode from your site.
