Topic Title not displayed

I just moved a channel from my general chitchat section (posting and creating threads allowed for members) to my archive section (no posting allowed) and suddenly the topic title of the latest post is not displayed on the forum index:


If I go into the archive, I do see the topic title:



What may be causing this issue? I'm running version 5.5.6 and didn't have this issue in 5.5.5. I disabled all mods and viewed on default style and English language, but same still.

What is the title of the topic?

Are you using a UTF-8 character set for your database, preferably a UTF8MB4 variant?
Are you using the UTF-8 Character Set for html with your language settings?
Are you using a UTF-8 locale in your language settings?

You should use UTF-8 as the character set with German. ISO-8859-1 is an obsolete character set that is primarily an English subset of UTF-8.

Storing your content in the database as latin1_swedish_ci will cause all UTF-8 characters to converted to HTML Entities. Some of these Entities can trigger an "End of File" marker in ISO-8859-1 and cause content to be cut off. Common examples of characters that trigger this effect are the "Curly Quotes" that mobile devices made popular. Though, that doesn't seem to be the case here.

This is the same as vBulletin 3 and 4. In vBulletin 5, if you use UTF-8 for your database and character set, all UTF-8 characters are maintained in the database.

What happens if you edit and save the first post in the topic?

Do other topics have the same issue or just this one?

Thank you for your reply. Can I aks my host just to convert the database from latin to UTF-8 or do a special vBulletin script needs to be used as well? In any event, I will update the settings in the AdminCP.

If I edit and save the first post, nothing happens. For now it seems to be only this topic.

I followed the database tools instructions on my backup database and everything was successfully converted. HTML Character Set was automatically set to utf-8 and search index was rebuild using searchindex.php. However, I cannot view the forum while it is offline, a lot of language strings appear to be missing and I cannot access the language settings anymore:



I repaired the tables using tools.php but with no success.

Did you adjust your permissions with a super administrator as stated?

Clear browser cache and local storage for your site. Do the phrases load after doing that?

My account is the super administrator as set in config.php. I have used tools.php to load vbulletin_language.xml and now they are displayed. Still cannot access certain parts of AdminCP and see my forum in offline mode.

Use tools.php to rebuild the Usergroup/Channel cache and the Options cache..

If I move the topic to a different forum, the title is displayed. Could it have something to do with the fact that the forum where the title doesn't get displayed is a read only forum?
