  • landing page vs home page

Does the site landing page have to be the site's home page or can we make it one of the other pages on the site?

    Either.

A landing page is usually a special URL used to track different promotions or participation. You can direct people to these pages with the URL.

You can also make any page your vBulletin Home Page. Simply edit the page in Site Builder and when saving it check the box labeled Make this my homepage.

How do I change a URL to be a landing page?

The difference between a landing page and a home page would be www.example.com/landingpage vs. www.example.com.

You can give a page any URL you want when you save the page. If you want the page to be the first page they see without the page name, you would make it the homepage.

Thanks! I tried adding /landingpage to the end of one of my URLs and then when I left the site and came back in nothing had changed. Is there any reason why that function wouldn't work?

Did you name your page landingpage? I used that text as an example. vBulletin would only knows that there is a Route and will redirect to the route if it exists. I have absolutely no idea what you're trying to accomplish so I can only provide examples of what the software can do.

Landing Pages are a specific page used in Advertising Campaigns to track the users coming into the site. Frequently, they would be used on billboard, radio, and television ads to track which are more effective or whether it is worth advertising in a specific location. So you would use specific page URLs to track this in your advertising.

If you want your users to type your domain into their browser and see a specific page within vBulletin you must set that page to the site's Homepage.

If you are running an advertising campaign and you want to track how many people come into the site via a specific URL, you would create a page with the URL you want and use it in your ad campaign. For Example, you would create a page in vBulletin and name it campaign1. Its URL would become yourdomain.com/campaign1. This page becomes the the "Landing Page" of that campaign. When you want to create a new ad campaign and track it, you create another page with another URL.
