  • [Site Builder] Selecting home page URL using site builder - "Make this page the homepage" button cannot be deselected

Sorry if this has been discussed, I searched but cannot see the answer.

I'm in my test site checking out some things.

I have turned Edit Page to "on" and made some edits to my page at Page Name "Home", URL https://mytestsite.com/homepage. Before the final "save" I am given the option to "Make this page the homepage" with a little radio button. The radio button is ticked but greyed out - I cannot untick it. So this tells me there must be a setting somewhere I need to change before I can use it.

Can someone tell me where this setting is, or if there is no such setting, why the ticked radio button is greyed out so that I cannot change it? What do I have to change somewhere else for it to work?

The URL /homepage is the default home page. This means that '/' will redirect to this page. You must have a page designated as the home page. You cannot simply choose to not have one by unchecking a box or setting.

To choose another page as your home page, go to that page, edit it, save, select the checkbox when saving and finish saving. To reset to the default go to /homepage and repeat that process.

The home page should always be what you set in the admincp settings. With that page selected and a properly configured server, you should never see /homepage in the URL unless you type it in yourself. The checkbox allows you to set another page as your home page if you want to do so. Its URL will become https://mytestsite.com/ but it will also keep its former URL so it can be referenced both ways. Many people use a custom page for this. Or they want their Articles to be the home page.

I am slightly confused by the phrase "The home page should always be what you set in the admincp settings." Presently on my live site I use the articles node/page as my homepage but renamed "News". In admincp, Settings, Site Name/URL/Contact Details I have https://mysitecom/ set as my vBulletin URL.

Are you saying that as I use my articles page as my homepage then in admincp, Settings I should have https://mysite.com/articles set as my vBulletin URL?

If that is how you have it set then https://mysitecom/ should show the same content as https://mysite.com/articles. If this is the case, then the system is working as designed.
