Random Members Being Locked Out of Open Threads

We've been dealing with this issue for quite sometime. Out of the blue we will receive a notice from a member saying that they received an error saying that they were locked out of a thread and wondered why. Here is what it looks like:

Size:	134.5 KB

From what I understand there's no rhyme or reason for it. Platform, browser, doesn't seem to matter. It does seem to effect certain threads more than others but that could merely be coincidence. Our A-10 thread is one it happens fairly frequently in.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Their browser thinks they are logged in and the server thinks they are logged out. Their server session will expire after 15 minutes of inactivity by default. Activity is loading pages and sending new posts. So if they load a long page and are reading it (or do something else and come back to it) then when they click to retrieve the next page the session on the server could be bad. The issue shouldn't be apparent on topics that guests can view. The system would create a new guest session and carry on. The fix is to log in again clicking the link provided.

Users should use the Remember Me function when logging in to remain logged in between extended page views.

We're working on a solution that would allow users to login on the same page and not lose their place.

Thanks Wayne for the response. You say "The fix is to log in again clicking the link provided." I didn't see a link?

If you refreshed the page your name should disappear and the login link should appear. In 5.3.2, we will be introducing Inline Authorization so they should be able to log back in on the same page without losing content.
