You can try renaming the Forums page to /forums in Site Builder. Once that is done, you can rename /articles to /.
1) Change current home page url
a) Go to current home page.
b) Edit Page
c) Save
d) Change home page url to something other than blank
2) Change page to the new home page
a) Go to page
b) Edit Page
c) Save
d) Change url to be blank.
However, I suggest creating a full database backup before you do so. This procedure can break your site with no easy way to recover it. I am trying to get them to implement a system like in vBulletin 4 where you just check a box and that becomes the home page.
