user tag

right now users are able to tag each other using the @ userid .
is there a way to use it in a way so then i type in @ userid reading the post ?

for example a user , lets call him test , comes to my thread and the thread will be
Hi test ! welcome to our forums
user test 2 will see
Hi test 2 ! welcome to our forums

i seen a couple of forums able to do it.

No, sorry. It works with usernames only.
