Unregistered and Guest can see forum. How to disallow them from seeing forum

We would like unregistered users and guests to not be able to see the forums. When they arrive on the page, we would like a login only. In the back end admin panel for the specific user groups, it shows that they are not allowed to see posts, threads etc, but for some reason it is not working. Am i doing something wrong?

There is a setting in the admincp to enable securities so nothing in your site is visible to the un-signed in user. I have a site set up like this. For the life of me I cannot find that setting to advise you. Still looking.

For this you will need to login to the admincp, in the left menu you will see user groups and select it. Go to Unregistered / Not Logged In section and change the Forum viewing settings to no. That will work and only registered members only an see the forum.
