  • Suspect File Versions ( File does not contain expected contents)

I recently purchased vBulletin and installed it.

When i run Diagnostics -> Suspect File Versions i get a mismatch on those 2 files:

LoggerConfigurationAdapterXML.php File does not contain expected contents

widget.php File does not contain expected contents

    Why is that?

    Thanks.

The first one you can ignore.

The second one, I would download a fresh copy of the files from the members area, and then upload just that one file to its correct location on the server. Then run the test again.

      Done that. Still fails:

We are talking about the ./core/vb/api/widget.php file right?

      Not the ones in:
      ./core/vb/xml/export/widget.php
      ./core/vb/xml/import/widget.php

      Thanks for your support.

In the screenshot above it is referring to the /core/vb/xml/import/widget.php file.

I checked the /core/vb/xml/import/widget.php file now and they are indeed different:

They have different MD5 hashs aswell.

I've replaced the file however it still says "File does not contain expected contents".

The system looks at an MD5 hash of the file and compares it to what the build of your download package says it should be in the file /core/includes/md5_sums_vbulletin.php. Even if the files look the same, they aren't necessarily the same and can generate a different MD5 hash. One space looks the same as three spaces on the screen in many places. Each and every download has its own set of MD5 hashes to compare to. Every license download is unique.

This is one reason why we say you should always replace all files.

I'm confused now. So i'll just have to stick with that mismatch and not worry about it?

Safest way is to reupload everything.

The entire reason the Suspect File Version tool was added is to give you a visual indicator that a file has changed. You can then review that file to see if the changes are good or bad. If you are okay with the file as is, then use the file as is. If not, replace it. That is your decision.

I reploaded everything (setup vBulletin from scratch) and i still get the error. Maybe the calculation is wrong in 5.1.8?

                    Thanks again for your time.

Just ran this testing tool against my test installation of vBulletin 5.1.9 Alpha 6 and did not receive an error with that file. It may be an issue in 5.1.8 but it appears to be corrected in 5.1.9.

Sounds promising! Can't wait for 5.1.9!

Thanks for the nice support, guys!

I updated from 5.1.7 to 5.1.9 a couple days ago and have the same problem as the OP. I'll ignore the LoggerConfigurationAdapterXML.php like suggested, but widget.php says that no matter what I do. I just downloaded another fresh master, uploaded it, same thing.

                          Suggestions?

I am not able to recreate this but which directory is "widget.php" in?

                              ./vb/xml/import

Do you think it's important, or can it just be ignored?
