Cant get theme to look right

I downloaded a theme from themeforest and after following the simple installation instructions it just doesn't look right.
Here is how it's supposed to look:

Does anyone know what could cause something like this?

Maybe not all neccessary files were uploaded?
Maybe not all files were placed at the correct location?
Maybe the author has added some additional steps in the product description, where he explains what has to be done after uploading the files and activating the theme?
Just ideas though...

The theme looks awesome (also on a mobile device)!

You should really get in touch with the person who sold you the theme

Thanks for the feedback, the installation process if very simple so I know I didn't miss anything however I have contacted the theme creator and I'm awaiting his comments. In the meantime I noticed this when installing the theme.

You uploaded patch files from 5.1.4 PL3 when you were running 5.1.2. You need to do a full upgrade to move from 5.1.2 to 5.1.4 so that your templates and the template version are up to date.
