  • Attachments not visible when logged out

Attachments to posts are not visible if a user is not logged in. They will be visible to logged in user only. What settings to I need to change, that attachments are always visible but can be opened by logged in users only?

Usergroup Manager > edit Unregistered Users > Can Download Image Attachments & Can See Thumbnails > Yes

Please don't PM or VM me for support - I only help out in the threads.

If I post CSS and you don't know where it goes, throw it into the additional.css template.

Thank you. But this is not the correct solution for me.

"Usergroup Manager > edit Unregistered Users > Can Download Image Attachments & Can See Thumbnails > Yes" means Unregistered can see AND download.

I like "Unregistered can see BUT NOT download"

There's no difference...viewing is downloading. You can't split the two.

Images are viewed in a browser once they are downloaded to the computer. A user cannot view an image unless it gets downloaded to their computer first.

Well, showing links, images and files to all visitors but make them downladable for registered user only will be a really nice regisration booster. Instead of showing the files, there should be a notice like: "Only the registered members can see the Link URLs. Please Login OR Register." Can I suggest these feature? Maybe other users like this too..

I would only point out again, that if someone can see the full size image embedded in a post, then they have already downloaded it. There's nothing vBulletin can do to change that, it's how computers work.

There is no difference from a technical perspective between viewing it in a post, and clicking a link to download it.

Yes, you are right ... I just looked it up in another forum ... they hide the "Link" in a post and not the attachment. But I think this feature is not available also ...

That's an add-on of some sort.

Yers, might be ... but it's a really nice feature.
