  • 5.1.2 Fresh Install - admincpdir setting

I recently purchased vB 5 (cheers!).

Today I finally got around to installing it for the first time. The install went through without any errors, but my ADMIN link at the bottom of the page is not working. When I hover over the link, it is pointing to /forums/admincp. Although, I have renamed the 'admincpdir' in both the /forums/config.php and the /core/includes/config.php. I also renamed the folders to the same name as updated in the config.php files. I'll use 'myadmin' as an example of what I have named it.

    /forums/config.php file:
    PHP Code:
// This setting allows you to change the name of the admin folder
    $config['admincpdir'] = 'myadmin'

    /core/includes/config.php file:
    PHP Code:
//    ****** PATH TO ADMIN & MODERATOR CONTROL PANELS ******
//    This setting allows you to change the name of the folders that the admin and
//    moderator control panels reside in. You may wish to do this for security purposes.
//    Please note that if you change the name of the directory here, you will still need
//    to manually change the name of the directory on the server.
    $config['Misc']['admincpdir'] = 'myadmin';
    $config['Misc']['modcpdir'] = 'mymod'

    The following folders renamed:
    /forums/admincp renamed to /forums/myadmin
    /forums/core/admincp renamed to /forums/core/myadmin
    /forums/core/modcp renamed to /forums/core/mymod

As a test, I renamed the folders on my server back to their originals (admincp and modcp) and the links at the bottom of my forums work. I can then access the Admin Control Panel no problem.

What am I doing wrong? It's probably something super simple and I'm blind. I anxiously look forward to feeling like a dolt!

    Thank you in advance,

This feature doesn't work, and is being removed as it provides no significant security benefit.

Ahhh, well that answers that. Thank you!

Going to try to get those docs updated internally (the config.php docs) so they wont mention that anymore.
