  • bbcode [img]http://xxx.gif[/img] disappears and replaced by actual image when editing as admin

    • When I go back and edit an image in my blog, the bbcode I used is gone and replaced by the actual image.
    • I went to my admincp and changed the HTML permission to Yes, but get the same result.
    • Not only that, when I am not logged in to my site, I don't see the image at all -- just the http://xxx.gif URL shows up.
    • How can I edit the image with the bbcode showing instead of the real image. Using vbulletin 5.05 here. Thanks.

Okay, I just started building the site last week. If you visit http://www.ebbtsp.com and read my blog, you're supposed to see my charts, but because you're not logged in, all you can see is the URL addresses. How do I fix it so everyone gets to see the images, even those unlogged (or unregistered users)? Thanks.

Click the "A" in the editor to bring up the full editor. Then click the "View Source" button on the far left, first icon in the list. Then it will appear as BBCode again.

Great. I checked the source code for my charts and all contained the [img][/img] bbcode. At other forums, when I use those codes, the image remains for all to see (unlogged, unregistered users). But in my forum, it's replaced by its URL address (http://). How do I get the images to show up when I'm not logged in?

Here's what I'm talking about. If you check my charts at http://www.ebbtsp.com/blogs/ebbchart...2013-ebbcharts, unlogged you don't see the charts (the URL had to be clicked). How do I get the charts to show up automatically? If you register and log in, the charts appear. What the heck is going on! Thanks.

Update: The issue of not seeing my charts when not logged in (or by unregistered users) has been resolved. vBulletin Support Team (Lynne) said:

"For Unregistered Users to see images, go to Usergroup Manager > Unregistered Users and set Can Download Attachments and Can View Thumbnails to Yes."

But if you don't want them to be able to download attachments, then you can turn that off, and they can still see the image instead of its URL. Thanks.

When I posted a picture on another part of my forum (games), the image was once again replaced by its URL. So, I went back to the original advice of the vBulletin Support Team and set the Can Download Attachments for unregistered users to Yes. It worked, no more URLs replacing images (for unregistered or unlogged users) again, see DragonVale pic here -- http://www.ebbcharts.com/forum/gamin...and-ipod-games.

By the way, I registered another domain name (www.ebbcharts.com) and asked my webhost to transfer the contents of my previous website (www.ebbtsp.com) over there. The transfer went smoothly, I just had to point the chart images to the new URL address. I remembered to delete the "old' site and add the new one to my Google Adsense account. All in all, it took a couple of weeks of research to start a website and a week to get comfortable with the vBulletin forum (which is great). You really don't need to know anything about HTML or PHP, but it can only help later on as you progress.
