Setting up private forums

I am using vBulletin 5.0.3 and want to set up several private forums in addition to the public forums already on the system.

I am not certain of the relationship of channels, usergroups and groups for the forums.

I tried setting up a usergroup and then a forum, but wasn't sure how to link the permission of the forum to that usergroup.

I tried reviewing the user manual but still remain confused.

you need to go to channel management>channel permissions and you will see every usergroup listed for every channel.....for the private forums deny all, then allow the custom usergroup only..
