add a profile field that is converted into a clickable icon?/Customizing "contact info" dropdown menu

Hello,

I was curious if there are shortcodes or templates available to add in our own profile fields that create entities with href's in them.

Example:

I would like to create a field in the profile that is filled out in the backend as a text field, but on the front end, the data from that field is inserted as an href attribute in an image tag. the image tag could be used for the corresponding service.
this actually could be rolled into another feature i was hoping is editable:
the "contact information" dropdown choices.


if that menu is customizable, and we can also customize the icons associated with each item in the list, this whole thing would be possible.

is that an option?

You can create Custom Fields in the Admin CP under "Custom Profile Fields" using the Custom Profile Field Manager.

You can have them entered as text then using template conditionals use the response to fabricate a link to an image. There is a tutorial on vBulletin.org on including custom profile fields in the user info of a topic here: http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=297041
