  • iOS - Binary Rejected - Use of location services

The latest build of my app was rejected by Apple with the reason: "Your app uses location services but does not clarify the purpose of its use in the location modal alert. Apps that collect, transmit, or use location data must notify and obtain the user’s consent prior to accessing this data."

With the rejection they sent a screenshoot of the app requesting to access the camera.

They gave the following advice to resolve the issue:

    Next Steps

To resolve this issue, please specify why the app is requesting the user's location in the location permission modal alert.

    Resources

For additional information and instructions on configuring and presenting an alert, please review the Requesting Permissionsection of the iOS Human Interface Guidelines and the Information Property List Key Reference. You may also want to review the Technical Q&A QA1937: Resolving the Privacy-Sensitive Data App Rejection page for details on how to provide a usage description for permission request alerts.

    How can I do this?

    I concur:

    This image says it all:

Bottom line: Since your system compiles itself, I cannot open the necessary plist in XCODE to add this descriptive string that Apple is so demanding of. How can we resolve this??

Here is my latest rejection explanation from Apple:

Guideline 5.1.1 - Legal - Privacy - Data Collection and Storage

We noticed that your app requests the user’s consent to access their camera but does not clarify the use of this feature in the permission modal alert.

Specifically, please update the irrelevant text in camera modal alert.

A hotfix has been applied for camera permissions. Please rebuild the app for submission.

I tried building / rebuilding 3 times after you guys told me to recompile the iOS app because Apple was refusing it due to it's access to the camera. Anyways, now I get this when attempting to upload the re-signed app:

I've pointed this out to the Mobile Project lead. As I said in your other topic. I don't know how to fix this. I can't even recreate it because I don't have access to a Mac.
