extremely slow user import - and a fix for it

    Hi,

I'm working on migrating phpbb2 to vb4 and while doing module 4, user import, I noticed it takes an awful lot of time, just about independent of the # of users to import per run.

I tracked down the issue and found it's ImpExDatabaseCore::check_user_field() which checks the availablity of a user field by a query similar to SELECT field6 FROM userfield. That's just wow. When you have 60000 users in your database, this "column checker" returns 60000 rows. And this is performed on every user import, not once per run.

Until the developers of impex fix this, I highly recommend changing the function at ImpExDatabaseCore.php #6488, by adding LIMIT 1 to the query or switching it to DESCRIBE.

    Cheers
