  • ImpEx Failed Check database permissions and connection

    It turns out that I want to export a phpBB3 forum to vBulletin 4.1.5 and selecting Check and update database I get this message:

    Altering tables

    ImpEx will now Alter the tables in the vB database to include import id numbers. This is needed during the import process for maintaining references between the tables during an import. If you have large tables (i.e. lots of posts) this can take some time. They will also be left after the import if you need to link back to the original vB userid.

    Are you sure your table prefix is correct?

      Do not I have a prefix to vbulletin, is the prefix for phpBB: phpbb_

      this is my configuration impex

      Code:
      $impexconfig['target']['server']        = 'localhost';
      $impexconfig['target']['user']            = 'nextgen_v2';
      $impexconfig['target']['password']        = 'mypassword';
      $impexconfig['target']['database']        = 'nextgen_vb';
      $impexconfig['target']['tableprefix']    = '';

      # If the system that is being imported from uses a database,
      # enter the details for it here and set 'sourceexists' to true.
      # If the source data is NOT stored in a database, set 'sourceexists' to false

      $impexconfig['sourceexists']            = true;

      ####
      #
      # SOURCE - The source is the old forum database (where the data is coming from)
      #
      ####

      # mysql / mssql
      $impexconfig['source']['databasetype']    = 'mysqli';  // mysql OR mssql
      $impexconfig['source']['server']        = 'localhost';
      $impexconfig['source']['user']            = 'nextgen_gp';
      $impexconfig['source']['password']        = 'mypassword';
      $impexconfig['source']['database']        = 'nextgen_group';
      $impexconfig['source']['tableprefix']   = 'phpbb_';

          No, if impex says the connetion is wrong then something is wrong.

                I do not think the problem is that it is not the first time I do an import, I have read that several have been left the same problem and have not solved in most

                  Did you ever get any response to this or find a fix? I'm having the same issue...

                      Do you have phpmyadmin? I want you to take a screen shot of your database as listed in phpmyadmin.
                      For vBulletin and for your phpbb database.

                      Then also check the permissions for both users on both databases and make sure they have FULL access on the vBulletin db and at the very least read on the phpbb database.

                        In your impex configuration file,
                        Change this:
                        $impexconfig['source']['databasetype'] = 'mysqli'; // mysql OR mssql

                        to:
                        $impexconfig['source']['databasetype'] = 'mysql'; // mysql OR mssql

                        even if the source database use 'mysqli' it will fix it.
