  • Config issues - Please help

    I am attempting to merge a vBulletin 3.6.8 forum into a 3.8.5 board. I generally haven't had much issues with php scripts, but i continually get the following error when I try and run the import function through my admincp:

    ImpEx Database error

    mysql error: Link-ID == false, connect failed

    mysql error:

    Date: Wednesday 29th 2010f December 2010 02:35:52 PM
    Database: calgdsm
    MySQL error:

    I have done a bunch of research and everything points to a config issue. I have tried a few different config setups to try and fix this, but every time I wind up with the same error.

    Here is my config. The source database is calgdsm and the target is boostedalberta:

    $impexconfig['target']['server'] = '';
    $impexconfig['target']['user'] = 'boostedalberta';
    $impexconfig['target']['password'] = '**********';
    $impexconfig['target']['database'] = 'boostedalberta';
    $impexconfig['target']['tableprefix'] = 'vb_';

    $impexconfig['source']['databasetype'] = 'mysql'; // mysql OR mssql
    $impexconfig['source']['server'] = '';
    $impexconfig['source']['user'] = 'calgdsm';
    $impexconfig['source']['password'] = '********';
    $impexconfig['source']['database'] = 'calgdsm';
    $impexconfig['source']['tableprefix'] = 'mst_';

    I've tried to change the database name to the respective versions of vbulletin for each board with no luck. I'm pulling my hair out on what is probably a very simple issue, so any help is much appreciated!

    Also, when I've tried making these changes to the impexconfig file to test them, I am just modifying the .php and then re-uploading the file to my webserver. Is this the correct procedure? I don't have to delete and reinstall all the impex files each time do I?

    Thanks in advance

    You need to have the source db on the same server as the vB database.
