Impex completed, but a few confusing issues...

I was able to get all of our forums, threads, posts and users imported, but note the following issues/questions where I need guidance:

    1. I got a database error when trying to import moderators, therefore they were not imported.
    2. There were a few hundred users out of 25,000 that failed.
    3. There were a few hundred posts out of 13,000 that failed.
    4. When attempting to run the attachments module, it showed 0 of 0 attachments, but we moved them to the database specifically for this import. No attachments are showing up.
    5. For the usergroups that have the "Impex" prefix... is deleting these going to place them in the correct usergroup?

    Thanks!

    1. what error?
    2. maybe users that had been deleted in the past?
    3. same as above
    4. I always set the attachments in the file system (if coming from vb) and use the attachment path
    5. deleting groups will return any users in that group to the "registered user" group

      1. It's gone now, should I try running just that module again?

      4. So I suppose I should move the attachments back to the file system on both forums and run that module again?

      5. I tried this, but it still leaves a user out there with an "imported" prefix. Am I going to have to merge some 700-800 users to get rid of those with the "imported" prefix?

      Thanks!

        1,2. uh, I'm not sure :|
        4. you can try, I always import with the attachments in the file system. I read that the 4.0 import requires the attachment in the DB
        5. well no, I guess I misunderstood your questions. during the import you can "associate" users with like emails, I would try that before merging 700 users.

4 and 5 will require you to run the import again, clear out out the old import session and data,. or you'll double it all up.

We did associate users with like emails, so I suppose these left over may be different emails.

To clear out the old import and session... which do I use:

Delete Session and all imported data

To delete the import session and all imported data for a clean retry, click here.

          Remove importids

To delete the importids in the database, click here, also removes the session. This will allow you to do consecutive imports.

Just to clarify... neither of these will erase the actual forums, threads, posts and users I have already imported will they?

          Thanks!

The first one WILL remove all imported data. The second one won't and is only needed if you are importing more than one database.

Oh yeah... and if I remove importids... will that eliminate the usergroups I have with the "imported" prefix?

This is really confusing and the manual is so very vague about it all.

              Thanks!

So... everything I have imported already will be gone? Obviously I don't want to do that... it took me long enough to straighten out the forums I imported and to update all the counters. I certainly don't want to have to do that again. It sounds like I just need to try to import the moderators and attachments that did not get imported.

You can rerun individual modules just as long as you rerun all the modules that come after them.

I am getting the same error I got when I tried to run the moderators module the first time:

                      Sorry... duplicate login above.

Also... what can I do about the "imported" prefix on the 600 or so members?

And the attachments never imported. If I open up AdminCP in the Pro Audio Shack forum and choose to move the attachments from the database to the file system... can I enter the path to the file system for attachments on Home Theater Shack instead of Pro Audio Shack? Will the attachments cross over from the Pro Audio Shack database to the Home Theater Shack file system?

                      Thanks!

Ugggh... now I have noticed another issue as well... in addition to the questions above...

We have two admin accounts that are duplicated between the two forums. On the posts at the target forum, all is fine, but on the posts at the source forum that were imported, the two admin accounts are showing up as inactive. Basically they are showing the same username, but not as an admin. They do not show up with the "imported" prefix like the other duplicated accounts.
