  • Impex taking a VERY LONG TIME to import posts

We are merging 3 vBulletin forums together, each one with around 500,000 posts (+/- 100,000).

Importing the posts for the first one took around an hour.

Importing the posts for the other takes a week (!).

They are all on the same (dedicated) server, so it's not a server issue (if it was, it would take a long time for both).
It seems most likely a database issue, but we've looked at everything we can think of and couldn't find any difference between the post tables of those 2 forums that could justify such a huge difference in speed.

All 3 forums have the exact same vBulletin version.

Has anyone faced anything similar? Does anyone have any ideas about where to look? I've completely run out of them.

    Thanks in advance!

Nevermind, I ended up writing a custom importer for the posts (only needs a few queries) and then tricking ImpEx into thinking that I had run the import post module. It worked fine.

500 k should take about 20 mins, raise the PHP limit as high as you can (I run 500Meg for big imports) and then do 20,000 posts per page.
      I wrote ImpEx.
