  • SMF --> VB (UTF-8) problems

    So I have followed the thread below to import information from Swedish SMF to VB, but the characters are not right.

    http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showp...28&postcount=6

    SMF db is in UTF-8. To check that I have checked the database and also made a html document in utf-8 that's prints the data and it is utf-8.

    My config.php is set

    PHP Code:
    $config['Mysqli']['charset'] = 'utf8'
    My ImpExConfig.php is set

    PHP Code:
    // Advanced Target
    $impexconfig['target']['databasetype'] = 'mysql'// currently mysql only
    $impexconfig['target']['charset']  = 'utf8';
    $impexconfig['target']['persistent'] = true;  // (true/false) use mysql_pconnect
    // Advanced Source
    $impexconfig['source']['charset']  = 'utf8';
    $impexconfig['source']['persistent'] = true;
    # pagespeed is the second(s) wait before the page refreshes.
    $impexconfig['system']['language']  = '/impex_language.php';
    $impexconfig['system']['pagespeed']  = 1;
    define('impexdebug'false);
    define('emailcasesensitive'false);
    define('forcesqlmode'true);
    define('skipparentids'false);
    define('shortoutput'false);
    define('do_mysql_fetch_assoc'false);
    define('step_through'false);
    define('lowercase_table_names'false);
    define('use_utf8_encode'false);
    define('use_utf8_decode'true);
    The Swedish/English language is set to UTF-8 both in files and CP.

    NOw I'm lost. All is set, but stil the import is not getting me right charset output.

    Anything else that could be forgotten?

    I tried several combinations of ImpExConfig.php , but none works. Any idea? Somebody?

      Did you try this guide for UTF-8 imports:

        Thank you for the answer, but as you can see in my first post, I wrote that I did. I also put in a link to the same guide as you put here.

            My license is then useless if I can't import my SMF data ....

              As an example, one of the strings for member groups look like this in SMF:

              Superhjälte
              then imported into vB it looks the same as above, but it should look like

              Superhjälte
              Am I missing something here?
