Generic importer skeleton?

Hi,
I'm about to import a custom (inhouse made) board (more than 100K users and posts, less than 100 forums) to vBulletin.
I want to import users, forums, threads and posts.
No bells'n'whistles, just the basic data.

I assume I've got to create my own importer. Is there a generic importer that's suitable to start off with?

I have full control over the data, i.e. I can export/convert it to a "common" format if that would make it easier.

Any ideas?

Though using something like the phpBB2 importer and modifying the selects and modules to fit your field names might be a better way to go.
