Hybrid Display not Showing Poster after Import

    Clean Import
    Source - phpBB2 - 2.0.21
    Target - vBulletin 3.6.7

The import has worked really well, with hardly any missed users, etc. My main question is the regarding the hybrid and threaded modes within the showthread.php display.

It lists all posts imported as registered to 'Guest' as opposed to the username. Yet when you look at each individual post, you can see clearly that the proper username is stored.

Is this a problem with the import, and is it possible to resolve?

    Thanks in advance

Where does it display guest, if it displays the username when your browsing the posts ?

It's the area below the VB Control Panel when Display Modes > Hybrid Mode is selected. It lists the Initial post along with the threads that come from it in a tree/directory style listing. There each post has (for example):

Guest Re: Topic Title 01-01-2007, 05:00 PM

      Hope that makes more sense

Have you rebuilt the post cache ?

I thought I had done when I originally imported the forum across. I'll redo it tonight, just in case I hadn't done. Will let you know if that fixes the problem tomorrow.

Thanks for the help so far.

I keep getting a time out after I start the rebuild on the post cache. Does refreshing after a time out restart the whole process?

I've got 74000 posts to do, how long would it take on 1000 per cycle?

            edit:

By timing out I mean that the browser while doing it's frequent refreshes to process the cycles, keeps losing it's connection, showing the option to refresh again. Once refreshed it carries on like nothings happened, but I'm not sure if it's restarting or not.

            edit:

Also noticed it's not imported the PMs across either. Not sure why... Will check it out on my next trial import.

Been looking at the database to see if I can work out the PM problem. So far I've discovered that the userids for the PMs start after the last userid for the users themselves.

I've got 2456 as the last userid for my users.

The lowest userid I have listed in the PMs table is 2457.

I've looked through the Impex instructions again, and I'm struggling to see anything that I've missed doing when I imported. The PMs are there, just not being referenced correctly to the user database.

              Any suggestions?

Sounds like the user module has been run twice and the PM module in between, the best thing to do with that is start with a clean import or re-run the PM module to clear it all out and do it again, ImpEx will return the userid of the vBulletin current users, opposed to the importuserid or the userid from the phpBB table (which is the import id).

Great, thanks for solving that problem. I'll do a new import as my final practice run this weekend.

Any comments on the time out problem?

Do you have access to the PHP error logs, there might be a clue in there as to the PHP process being killed out the database timing out etc ?

I've asked the server technical staff to help me confirm what error messages were showing, etc.

Will get back to you. Thanks again for the help.

There was no error showing for PHP on the server. When I reran the Rebuild Post Cache, it ran very quickly, literally two seconds and it was complete. Yet it made on 7 cycles at 1000 per cycle, which suggests it only did under a tenth of the 74000 posts.

How quickly should such a Rebuild Post Cache run on a modern quality server with that amount of posts?

                        Edit:

It also hasn't resolved the 'Guest' problem in running it.

I've got an image of the hybrid problem:

And also got another problem with showing users online. Previous posts don't register to the user:

Are these both part of the same problem as the PM, i.e. the userids being different from the original posts?

I recall having a problem when I ran the users once, and so had to rerun it later after I 'cleared' the import. Could this all be part of that problem?

                          Thanks again for the help.

A complete reinstall and rerun of ImpEx resolves the issues I've found here (but for one which is my error). What I can't find anywhere is how long a Rebuild Post Cache is, and how it should work.

I set it to do 250, per cycle, figuring 300+ page loads for 75000+ posts. I reached 3000 with no sign of it slowing down.

How exactly does the process work?

So it's all ok apart from the post cache ?

Rebuilding the post cache, selects the templates and styles then truncates the postparsed table, selects a pages worth of posts from the post table then loops though them parsing them into HTML and putting them into the postparsed table.
