  • Import from phpbb doesn't seem to do anything

I cannot get past the first 'module' using Impex. It does all the checks and says everything is ok, but go on to module number 2 'Associate users' and all the modules do nothing. It appears to complete, but there are no 'failure' or 'success' messages. Instead it just takes me back to the impex screen having changed the button to 'redo module'.

Source server is the old MS SQL server, target server is the local MySQL server. All server addresses etc are correct in the impex config file, and it seems to find the 'phpbb_' tables so I can't for the life of me see what is wrong!

    Any ideas?

Can you post a screenshot of what you are seeing?

Double check the table prefix against the tables in MSSQL, as they may need prepending with the database name.

I have checked the file prefix and it is correct (ie 'phpbb_' - if I add the privs prefix as shown in MSSQL 'forums.admin.phpbb_' then Impex generates an error on module 1)

As you can see, it doesn't seem to do anything, except change the button to 'Redo module' for the ones I have tried

Jake contacted me and I reviewed the ticket, though I some access to the source database to be able to check on a few details.

I am having what appears to be the exact same issue importing phpBB2 to the latest version of vBulletin. I have installed the vBulletin software on the new webserver and it appears to be working fine. My problem is during the import using IMPEX 1.82. Below is an example of my setup. Let's say we have two old servers, and two new servers. The old ones can be referred to as Web1, and SQL1; the new ones can be Web2 and SQL2.

              [Old setup]
              phpBB2 v2.0.15
              Web1: Windows 2003 Standard SP1, IIS 5 (with PHP 4.3.3.3)
              SQL1: Windows 2000 Standard, SQL 2000 Standard SP3

              [New setup]
              vBulletin 3.6.7 PL1
              Web2: Windows 2003 R2 Standard SP2, IIS6 (with PHP 5.2.3)
              SQL2: Windows 2003 R2 Standard SP2, MySQL 5.0.41 community-nt

On SQL1 I made a copy of the database and pointed to it in the IMPEX configuration file. I am using a MSSQL user (not a domain user) that has full SA access to the SQL1 server, and I have confirmed that it can access the database in quesiton using Enterprise Manager. After I start the import and select phpBB2 2.0.22, here is what happens:

This leads me to believe that my configuration is correct, that I have correctly setup the new webserver Web2 with PHP having the ability to connect to MSSQL databases directly, and that IMPEX is able to connect to said database on SQL1. My problem appears on Module 003 and on. This is what I get when I run Module 003:
              -----
              Importing 0 Usergroups
              From : 0 :: To : 0
              -----
I get similar results when running other modules. After searching the forum and finding this thread, it seems I am not alone. Has gizmoid's particular problem resolved? If so what was done to fix it.

              Thank you for your time.

The other issue was different, it would appear that you haven't set your source table prefix or are pointing at the wrong database.
