  • phpbb import -cant see avatars or sigs

    • Type of import: clean
    • Source board system and version. phpbb 2.0.21
    • Target version. 3.64
    • Module issue occurred on. Users I guess - no errors
    • Any SQL error reported. Np
I have run thru a fresh install and an import 4 or 5 times
    Dropping the tables in between

I think I have all the options and settings the way I like
But it seems that the avatars and sigs were imported - some of them at least
    But I cant see them

If I look in the DB I can see 20 or so entries in the custom avatar table
When I added a user to the admins group his avatar appeared

I have a feeling its a simple issue but was hoping for a nudge in the right direction
    Thanks
    Doug

    First, check these settings:

User CP -> Edit Options -> Thread Display Options -> Visible Post Elements
    Show Signatures
    Show Avatars
Show Images (including attached images and images in [IMG] code)

Thanks Steve I saw your previous post in this ...
      However I checked and
My profile is set to see them all

The weird part is that the users all imported into the "imported users" group or something and per the how to I deleted that group and then added 2 people to the admin group - as soon as I added them to the admin group I could see their avatars

So it seems like a permissions thing or something group related

I have raised a ticket about this.

I found that local (linked remote avatars work fine) are hit and miss - some users do have them and some don't. It is consistent in that it is always the same users that do and don't have them.

When I investigated a user that I knew should have one I found that there isn't an AvatarID in the user table - this doesn't coroborate with you, silver_2000, as you found that the avatars were there when you made the users admin.

Well As I suspected it was simple and My fault

Thanks for the quick reply Marco

You can set permissions to use custom avatars at:

AdminCP -> Usergroups -> Usergroup Manager -> Edit Usergroup -> Can Upload Custom Avatars
