  • Importing just members

I have a list of members: username, password, e-mail address

Is there a way to bulk import those?

Yes, install Impex and use the CSV/Text import option.

Is there a page on how to do this? What format should the users.txt file be? I tried username,e-mail,password and the first module simply said file 'Not OK' and no more than that. The second module didn't do anything - just returned to the module page.

It should accept a comma delimited file. IIRC it let's you choose the delimit type and the order.

Please read the online Impex import instructions here:

I've read those instructions before and I can't find anything there about importing from a text file. This can't be such an unusual thing, surely?

Does that data need to be surrounded by "'s or anything like that?

No it doesn't. When I did this for a test import a while back everything was pretty self-explanatry. Perhaps you can state exactly what you are doing.

I've sorted it out. It wanted the path to the text file to be in relation to the forum and I'd put the full path.

Good job most coders are psychic.

Really? I would have thought the full path would have worked in you preceeded it with a /.

It not did. But it's sorted now.

                  Thanks for your help.

It should. Please report this in the 3.6 Bug Tracker here:

Interesting as it passes the path to
                      PHP Code:
                      file()
to get the file, so absolute paths should work fine.
                      I wrote ImpEx.
