Can you ssh to the attachments dir and run "pwd" to get the path ?

Ahhh Jerry I was thinking that would be your advice as I had seen it in other threads with similar issues.

To be honest I have no idea how to run a ssh.

      Instruction welcome

      cheers

Ok this is what I did to solve this to some degree perhaps others can benefit somewhat from my 10 hours of toiling....

I copied the source attachments folder (files) to the new domain where the new forum is (root directory) ran the module for attachments again and it imported the files to the database.

Then, because I have some images in those attachments I had to rebuild the thumbnails through - acp > maintainance > update counters > Rebuild Attachment Thumbnails.Basically, the importer does not do it for the general user. I mean using ssh to pwd the thingamajah to the asrp path of the ntc is just a tad beyond us not quite so up on the jargon.

Other than that the importer was reasonably smooth going. Thank you.

Yes, the files do have to be on the same server that ImpEx can read from, they are opened as files, not from URLs or via ImpEx FTP'ing into your old server.

Thats the odd thing Jerry. The files are on the same machine (server) just on a different add on domain. In reality it was only shifting it from one folder to another but unfortunately Impex was unable to do that.

The issue would have been the path and/or the permissions to that path for PHP, or that path that ImpEx was using to look for them.

Either way done now so all good

You are right Jerry in that the path is what was the issue. I found the same issue with another plugin.

Here is how to find the right path for your forum install, for those that are not sure.

Goto Admin Panel of your forum > Maintainance > phpinfo > scroll down to PHP VARIABLES and you will find on the left _SERVER["DOCUMENT_ROOT"] the path next to that is the path to the forum install.

in my instance it was /home/myaccount/public_html/crayfishmates-com

                I was missing the "myaccount".

                Thank you for your help.
