  • Unable to Import Attachments Only

    Hello! Some information first:

    ImpEx build version : 1.66
    vBulletin v3.6.0
    SMF v1.0.8

I have happily imported all users, threads, avatars, everything except attachments. I get the following error while trying to import the attachments:

    Importing 150 attachments

    From : 0 :: To : 150

Source file not found :: ThisEpisode.jpg
Source file not found :: Update_1.jpg
Source file not found :: Update_2.jpg
Source file not found :: Tricycle1.jpg
Source file not found :: ondirt5.jpg
Source file not found :: ondirt4.jpg
Source file not found :: ondirt3.jpg
Source file not found :: Leonov_18.jpg
Source file not found :: Pods.jpg

Here is an example of a filename of one of the failed attachments.

What other information can I give you to help solve this problem?

    Thanks,

    Eric

    *edit* Whoops, forgot this:
    • Type of import (clean or merge). A clean import is into an empty board, a merge is a board that has data, also if a merged import if there was any previous imports.
    Clean import.

    Hi Eric,

Does SMF store attachments in the filesystem or database?
If it stores them in the filesystem you'll need to make sure you're inputting the correct path to the directory.

The file system, the full path is needed.
      I wrote ImpEx.

Yep, file system and I placed the full path in but I still did not get any attachments.

        Any ideas?

        Thanks for the replies!

Can you SSH to the server and run a pwd command in the dir that the attachments are in to double check the path ? (assuming its a *nix server).

            Oh, good idea!

            I'll give it a try.

              Maybe I'm Missing Something Obvious

Okay, I got this for the true location for my attachments:

              /mnt/b027f9ab/www/3dforum/attachments

To FTP to the site, I just use: pacsadminpro.com

              I've tried:

              /mnt/b027f9ab/www/3dforum/attachments
              http://pacsadminpro.com/mnt/b027f9ab...um/attachments
              http://pacsadminpro.com/3dforum/attachments
              /www/3dforum/attachments

I'm just at a loss. I fail every time.

It will be this one :

                /mnt/b027f9ab/www/3dforum/attachments

That's a path, the http:// are URL's and unless PHP allows fopen() on them, they won't work.

If your sure that's the correct path and its still not working I suggest contacting the support team and referencing this thread.

I'm sure all right. Thanks for the try. I'll open a ticket.

I can confirm that this is not working.

                    Using ImpEx 1.67

Importing from vB 3.61 to vB 3.61 (merging into an existing board)

If I try to import the attachments from the file system I get 4000+ times "Source file not found," albeit my path is correct, and the 4000+ attachments are exactly where ImpEx is looking for them. (Yes, they are readable, permission "777.")

If I try to import the attachments from the database (after I moved them into the database on the source board) I get just a blank screen:

                    ImpEx build version : 1.67
Database cleanup & restart ||| Online manual

                    Using includes/config.php for target config.
Is there a workaround in the meantime? I would really need the attachments.

I opened a ticket and most of my attachments were imported but I needed vBulletin support to do it.

I thought I was close when I moved all the attachments to a folder on my new board and vBulletin recognized most of them ... but then it didn't actually attach anything.

I didn't deal with the ticket and I can't recreate this error.

If you start a ticket, ask for me, then I can include any update or error checking back into ImpEx.

Thanks. I will try once more. If it fails I will take screenshots and submit a ticket.

Another thing I noticed is that when I was associating the usernames, it displayed "Array" next to the user id instead of the nicknames. The import itself worked, though.

Attachment import worked after I had moved the attachments from

                            /home/httpd/vhosts/exported-forum.net/subdomains/forum/httpdocs/attach

                            to

                            /home/httpd/vhosts/imported-forum.net/subdomains/forum/httpdocs/attach

                            i. e. I had to move them from the exported site (forum) to a directory within the site of the board into which I imported them.

Both are running on the same server. Safe mode is off. Maybe basedir restriction?

99% of the time its PHP and permissions, if the path is correct that's where ImpEx is looking, if the permissions won't allow the file to be read, that's a server issue not ImpEx.
