  • Importing taking FOREVER!

    Importing from UBBT 6.5.2 to VB... 500 users took just under 1 hour to import.

    With 27,000 members and 900,000 posts, this is going to take days at the current pace. There must be something going wrong.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks.

    Sounds like a major server issue. There is no way that should take this long on a well-managed server.

    Try this. Edit your includes/config.php file and add these lines right under the <?php line:

    ini_set('memory_limit', 32 * 1024 * 1024);
    ini_set("max_execution_time", "480");

        That import should take under 2 hours, max.

        How many users per page and what page speed ? Are you importing externaly hosted avatars ? If so, don't.

          Avatars are hosted on our server, if that's what you were asking. Was that your question?

          It still is taking 3+ hours just for the posts.

          Also, during the import, after the users have been imported, it just shows total number of users and most recent user, but the user list is empty. Searching for users through the admin section seems to work. Also, they are all in a custom user group... not the standard registered users group.

          Also, after all posts were imported, nothing showed on the list of forums.

          Does some sort of recalculation have to be done after an import?

            You need to follow the after import instructions, which include moving the users to proper usergroups, rebuilding thread and forum info as well as the search index.

              Thanks... haven't gotten to that part yet, obviously. Just wanted to make sure nothing was going wrong before wasting two hours on another failed import.
