    Is your IPB data on a different server from vB?

    $impexconfig['source']['server'] = 'sifybc.sifybcforums.com';

    If so, that may be the problem. That server would need to be configured to allow remote MySQL connections from your vB server. If itt's on the same server as your vB, try setting this to 'localhost':

    $impexconfig['source']['server'] = 'localhost';

        Did you also enter database information for the target database (not needed in the newest version of ImpEx i think, but can not check right now). If yes, is that info exact the same as in your includes/config.php?

        The part of the error you have posted on the previous page, doesn't show if the error is with the source or the target database.

            Alright, I am doing a complete reinstall here and have a question. I want to put VB in the same folder as the other forum, but if I do....it will ask me if I want to overwrite a file. Should I make a new folder and put all my VB files in there??

              Install vB in it's own directory.

                  This is from my Invision config file
                  $INFO['sql_driver'] = 'mysql';

                  $INFO['sql_database'] = 'sifybc';
                  $INFO['sql_user'] = 'EDIT';
                  $INFO['sql_pass'] = 'TEST';
                  $INFO['sql_tbl_prefix'] = 'ibf_';
                  $INFO['sql_debug'] = '1';

                  $INFO['installed'] = '1';
                  $INFO['php_ext'] = 'php';
                  $INFO['safe_mode'] = '0';

                  $INFO['auth_group'] = '1';
                  $INFO['mysql_tbl_type'] = 'MyISAM';
                  Not in the Impex config files....where would the above go?

                  $impexconfig['sourceexists'] = true;

                  # mysql / mssql
                  $impexconfig['source']['databasetype'] = '';
                  $impexconfig['source']['server'] = '';
                  $impexconfig['source']['user'] = '';
                  $impexconfig['source']['password'] = '';
                  $impexconfig['source']['database'] = '';
                  $impexconfig['source']['tableprefix'] = '';
                  in the VB folder.

                    Is this the only place I can get help? Not trying to say anying bad about this place, and I understand the wait 24 hours....but I started this thread on the 4th of February and here it is the 6th and I only receive very little responce. If you dont understand the question then just say so. This 22 post and 118 views is downright bad is a little crazy...don't you think?

                      Code:
                      $impexconfig['sourceexists'] = true;
                      # mysql / mssql
                      $impexconfig['source']['databasetype'] = 'mysql';

                        Well, it looks like I am going to have to do that. I just tried what you said and I still get the same error...

                        ImpEx Database errormysql error: Link-ID == false, connect failed

                        mysql error:

                        mysql error number: 0

                          If you have SSH/Telnet access to the server where you are trying to run ImpEx on, try the following on the commandline and see if you get an error message:

                          mysql -uEDIT -pEDIT -hsifybc.sifybcforums.com sifybc

                          Change EDIT to the real username/password (don't add a space in front).

                          If all info is correct, you should get a SQL-prompt (you can leave again by giving an 'exit' command).

                              oh and guess what....

                              ImpEx Database errormysql error: Link-ID == false, connect failed

                              mysql error:

                              mysql error number: 0

                              I have tried everything everyone has said in here and still get this error. Either this is a bug in Impex that needs fixed or everyine here has met there match! Anyways......if this helps any...

                              I am using Invision powerboard 2.1.4

                                If you still can not get it working, i would do like Zachery suggested and fill out a Suppurt Ticket.

                                Please include all relevant information, so Support Staff can try to help you.
