I have installed Impex and am currently troubleshooting some issues. I would be grateful if someone could assist in the following information:
Firstly, can I use Impex to append posts and information - i.e. we already have some posts and user information and I would like to append to this information with a mass upload.
Secondly, I asked this question earlier but didn't get a satisfactory or full answers. I will try to use Impex once I have issues resolved but trying to understand some things first.
When using Impex, could someone guide me through how the import works if I am storing data in text files. We want to prepopulate our new forum with posts from a chat based forum we have been maintaining at work. We will need to basically do lots of manual work to put this in the right format first but we want to know how this would work - e.g.:
a) How many tables are needed
b) What are these tables and what are fields (e.g. user: user id, user name, post: post id, post description etc)
c) Does impex import each table individually.
I am aware there is the option as to what you want to upload in impex which includes text file.
