  • phpBB import, old internal links - anybody have a script?

    The internal linking to threads and posts in phpBB and vB are different.

    Thread
    phpBB: http://www.sc-resources.net/viewtopic.php?t=41324
    vB: http://www.sc-resources.net/showthread.php?t=80

    Post
    phpBB: http://www.sc-resources.net/viewtopic.php?p=258#258
    vB: http://www.sc-resources.net/showpost...57&postcount=1

    Have anybody written a script that can change all old phpBB links to vB links?
    Best Regards Tommy

      Yeah I understand that and I have read all the threads on this subject and just wanted to know if anybody have written a script that do these changes since the import did not do it.

          Internal link parsing

          Apologies for bringing this back to life.

          Have just completed a test conversion from phpBB 2.0.19 to vBulletin 3.5.4 . It went well, no errors.

          However this Internal link parsing problem is beyond me.
          Is there a solution.
          Advice would be appreciated.

            I do not know of any way to fix this since the old ids are not kept and there is no way to automatically relate an old link to a new one.

              The answer is still no, this hasn't been developed.

                Can we talk about this?

                Let's say my site is http://www.funforum.com/ and there are a bunch of internal links like http://www.funforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=1234.

                And all the threads have importids still stored.

                Why can't we do a global search and replace in the post table for any text like http://www.funforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=1234 and replace with http://www.funforum.com/showthread.php?t=5323 where the new threadid is swapped in for the old importid?

                You're not going to fix everything. I am not expecting a script that fixes all problems or brings World Peace. But just converting viewtopic.php?t= to showthread.php?t= with the new threadid would fix a good 80-90% of the links. If there is a #postXXXX after the threadid, it would be deleted or converted (if the programming isn't too mind-bending, since that's a second query).

                viewtopic.php?t=1234 -> showthread.php?t=5323
                viewtopic.php?t=1234#post5325 -> showthread.php?t=5323 is fine

                I'm reading this thread right now:
