  • Error message while importing

I try to import all messages / data from Burning Board 2 and in modul 2 I get this error message. What do I need to do now?
Oh yes, one thing is that I import from the SAME mysql databse but only have a different prefix for the table. Is that a problem? any help is greatly appreciated.

    Using includes/config.php for target config.

Warning: mysql_query(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /impex/db_mysql.php on line 248

There seems to have been a slight problem with the Jamie Stevens.NET [Message Board] database.
Please try again by pressing the refresh button in your browser.

An E-Mail has been dispatched to our Technical Staff, who you can also contact if the problem persists.

    We apologise for any inconvenience.

This seems to have worked. VBulletin enters numbers in there.

Not sure what you mean, did it list all the tables in green ?

          No not really,

          This is what it says:
          Altering tables

ImpEx will now Alter the tables in the vB database to include import id numbers.

This is needed during the import process for maintaining refrences between the tables during an import. If you have large tables (i.e. lots of posts) this can take some time.
They will also be left after the import if you need to link back to the origional wBB userid.

          moderator - importmoderatorid OK
          usergroup - importusergroupid OK
          ranks - importrankid OK
          poll - importpollid OK
          forum - importforumid OK
          forum - importcategoryid OK
          user - importuserid OK
          style - importstyleid OK
          thread - importthreadid OK
          post - importthreadid OK
          thread - importforumid OK
          smilie - importsmilieid OK
          pmtext - importpmid OK
          avatar - importavatarid OK
          customavatar - importcustomavatarid OK

          attachment - importattachmentid OK
          pm - importpmid OK
Please set 'sourceexists = true' in ImpExConfig.php
Then it refers me to the site with the modul buttons again and says: imported: 19 and failed: 0, time taken: 0 sec

          Is this helpful?

Now when performing modul 1 I get the following error message:

access NOT found or a non standard table.
adminhelp NOT found or a non standard table.
administrator NOT found or a non standard table.
adminlog NOT found or a non standard table.
adminutil NOT found or a non standard table.
announcement NOT found or a non standard table.
archive NOT found or a non standard table.
attachment NOT found or a non standard table.
attachmenttype NOT found or a non standard table.
attachmentviews NOT found or a non standard table.
avatar NOT found or a non standard table.
              bb1_access found.
Still it says 19 imported and 0 failed later in 1 sec.

Now in the second module, I got a list of the registered users from the old board. It said I should associate vBulletin users here. But other than the admin account my vBulletin board does not have any users yet. So I left the fields blank, was that okay. Now there comes the following message:

Put the existing vbulletin user id next to the wBB user that you wish to associate them with
There are NO more vBulletin users, quit to continue.
And I cannot get any further. Should I have entered the exact user name in each field?

Ah, okay then I won't need to do this. Other than that I have imported everything now. However neiether the messages nor categories, forums, etc show up, what do I need to do now?

The manual doesn't say anything what to do after an import other than checking: "Always check the permissions of moderators etc."

What do I need to do so that the users, posts, and categories, etc. show up now?

You will have to check your forum display order, ensure that the forums can be seen, save the display order as well.

I have found my mistake. I needed to delete the default forum,
Sorry for the many and quick questions.

You've been a GREAT help!!! THANK YOU!!

Everything seems to have worked fine.
There are a few mistakes. For example the last poster is indicated by userID not by username and the administrator has the same now as the new one, which is why it says imported_administrator. I assume I can merge these 2 accounts somehow, right? If so how?

Again thanks a lot for your help.

As soon as you are happy with the import you can merge the users in the admincp.

AdminCP -> Users -> Merge Users

                          Ah, thanks, Will do that.

I just saw that the members list is empty (except for the admin user). Although the index page gives the correct number of registered users.

Is there any way to fix this?

                          Sorry for the many questions.

There are two options you need to check to set whether or not members are viewable on memberlist:

                            1. By usergroup:

Admin CP -> Usergroups -> Usergroup Manager -> Edit -> Usergroup Options -> Viewable on the Memberlist -> Yes

                            2. By post count:

Admin CP -> vBulletin Options -> User Listing & Profile Viewing -> Minimum Posts

Ah, thank you. What would I do without you guys?
The users were not "registered users" but a group called "Default Group for Users" and indeed they would not be shown in the memberlist. Ah that was tricky :-)

I just saw that on the index page it also says "Never" where the last post should be listed. Any idea why that is, also why the last poster is shown with the userid instead of user name. And sometimes the last poster is indicated as "thread starter" ... wait I see this only happens when "imported_administrator " was the actual topic starter.
