I recently purchased vB and was attempting an import from YaBB 1.3.1 Gold. I had big problems with trying to get my FULL PATH right in ImpEx to my YaBB directory in my cgi-bin.
If anyone else has this problem in the future.... I found the solution. Apparently with my hosting provider (Apollo Hosting... great hosting btw), you cannot write a full path to your cgi-bin. I had the full path correct, but the script couldn't open the folder path. I tried everything. They have some kind of security settings that prevent you for accessing through full path.
Here is what you do. Make a copy of your YaBB forum and place it in your httpdocs folder. My cgi-bin was not in the httpdocs folder and I gather that was the problem. Once in your httpdocs folder, you can successfully use the full path provided by your hosting provider.
Also, be careful which FTP client you use to transfer your files. I downloaded Smart FTP and used that. IT SKIPPED FILES AND DIDN'T TRANSFER 100% of all my files. I never noticed because how would I when I have over 100,000 files transferring. Smart FTP told me it was a complete successful transfer.
I downloaded IpSwitch's WS_FTP... and THIS IS THE ONE TO USE!!! Worked flawlessly.
BOTTOM LINE: Import was 100% successful with no loss of data. Amazing.
Thanks to Steve and the vBulletin Support Staff for all the help. Great product and happy customer.
