Yahoo Webhost HELP!!

I purchased VB this morning, im changing servers, but im having a hard time locating the backup to my mysql database, (converting from a phpbb board to VB) anyone have any experiance with yahoo webhosting and can tell me where to find it???

You need to use phpmyadmin, or have shell access, to make a dump of your database.

You will not have physicall access to the database files.

If yahoo did not supply you with control panel to make a mysql back you will need to contact them and ask them how to get a proper dump of your database.

If you are using phpBB, you can just go to Administration Area > General Admin > Database Backup. Save the backup, upload it to your new host, and just convert on localhost, or, convert on your new server.

Myphpadmin wont do a backup, yahoo did a backup but not in .sql format, and they are giving me a hard time about it, its been three days now...and NADA!!! im still not converted, and my board is down (im getting away from yahoo) im just hoping that i dont lose members...

What is wrong with phpMyAdmin ?

If it is timing out, try exporting just one table at a time, it might take a while though if you get all your data it will be worth it.

I'm going to need some more information than that to be able to help you.

Is it installed, is it working at all, what is the error ?

yahoo did a backup in .tar.gz format

Did you open up the tar.gz file and see if it did have an sql file in it?

That will be the phpBB database SQL file, you will need to restore that on your vBulletin server with phpMyAdmin or via the command line thus :

Then jerry is most likely correct, if you have a problem restoring the backup for any reason you might want to try contacting your new host. Most hosts should be willing to assit you with a move and restoring a database

Yes, you will need vBulletin installed with ImpEx installed as well to import the phpBB database.
