  • Importing Styles?

I haven't noticed yet but is there a way to import styles/templates from phpBB to vBulletin using the impex? If not how can you import or convert phpBB styles to vBulletin?

You can check the sticky in the vBulletin 3 Import System forum for the supported conversion from your source (ie. phpBB).

I doubt that you can convert Styles from any system to vB.

That's what I kinda thought. Ok so my next question is, does anyone know how to take an existing phpbb style and edit it or whatever to be able to use with vBulletin? I have 3 catagories that use 3 different styles that I want to use for my vBulletin board. Here's what I mean:

      Main Forum (default Vb style)
--Game 1 General Discussion (game 1 style)
--Game 2 General Discussion (game 2 style)
--Game 3 General Discussion (game 3 style)
      Polls (default Vb style)
      etc
      etc

I want to use the default vB style as the main style and make 3 child styles so that when a user clicks on Game 1 to post something in the forums match that style.

So if Game 1 = World of Warcraft then when user clicks to post in the WoW forums the entire style changes to a World of Warcraft look.

If game 2 = Star Wars Galaxies then when the user posts there they get a forum that looks like a Star Wars based style.

When the user returns back to the main forums the style then returns to the default vB style.

Do you understand what I want to do or did I just confuse you even more? I have 3 seperate styles from my old phpbb board that I would like to use since I have seen nothing like this for vB. I'm still too new to vB to figure out how to edit the templates/styles to use the phpbb style. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes you can easily use a different style for a forum.

I can' answer you on how to convert a style. Styles and HTML are not my thing.

There is no simple way to convert a phpBB style to vB. You have to manually edit the vB style. Here is the online documentation for styles and templates:

            http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/styles_and_templates

And here are color maps for vB3 in the online manual:

To follow up, due to the complexity of vBulletins style system and the difference between other systems, it was decided not to attempt style imports as when migrating to vBulletin there would lightly be style changes of not a site redesign at the same time.
                I wrote ImpEx.
