  • [CMS] Forum and Word Press together

    Hello,

I actually have a forum locate at this URL : https://www.bodyweb.com/forum.php
An old CMS here : https://www.bodyweb.com/content.php

I wanted to use a WP page at the main website address www.bodyweb.com and have all my subdirs and URLs untouched, just like it is now :

    https://www.bodyweb.com/forums/18-CAFFETTERIA
    https://www.bodyweb.com/threads/256361-Comunicazione-con-lo-Staff-e-o-segnalazione

Is it possible to have the main forum page in one of this subdir or at least in a different dir rather than the main one?

Yes... Move the vBulletin files into the new sub-directory then update the URL in the AdminCP.

        One problem,

if in the main dir I have all the WordPress Files and my forum is in the (hypothesis) /vubulletin/ directory , how the server knows that the address :

        https://www.bodyweb.com/threads/256361-Comunicazione-con-lo-Staff-e-o-segnalazione
        is in
        httdocs/bodyweb.com/vbulletin/threads

Shouldn't the server answer 404 since the directory httdocs/bodyweb.com/threads doesn't exists?

htaccess files in the main dir have to be modified?

You can’t have Wordpress and vBulletin in the same physical directory.

Hi, may be I'm explaining myself in a bad way.

            - Wordpress on the main directory ( httpdocs/bodyweb.com/) so when I go to the website www.bodyweb.com I see the WordPress home page.
            - Vbulletin on a subdirectory, as I understood, ( httpdocs/bodyweb.com/vbulletin/ )

I just need my URL (SEO reason) to be untouched, as they are now, this is an old forum, started in 20 years ago, so :
            https://www.bodyweb.com/forums/18-CAFFETTERIA
            https://www.bodyweb.com/threads/256361-Comunicazione-con-lo-Staff-e-o-segnalazione

Is this possible and please explain me how?

You will have to modify your Wordpress .htaccess file to redirect all URLs with forums and threads into the vBulletin directory.

              Maybe something like:

              Code:
#If you used friendly urls in vB4, then uncommenting the following rules will redirect the #
#old vB4 urls to a similar location in vB5. This is unnecesary for a new vB5 install.
                  RewriteRule ^threads/.* showthread.php [QSA]
                  RewriteRule ^forums/.* forumdisplay.php [QSA]
                  #RewriteRule ^members/.* member.php [QSA]
                  #RewriteRule ^blogs/.* blog.php [QSA]
                  #RewriteRule ^entries/.* entry.php [QSA]
              RewriteRule ^(.*)$ vbulletin/index.php?routestring=$1 [L,QSA]
Of course we don't know anything about your server so if this doesn't work, you'll have to research rewrites for your specific server OS, web server, etc... Or ask your hosting provider for assistance.

Overall, we can only provide support for the software we sell and is included in the vBulletin directory when the software is installed.

Ok, with rewrite rules makes more sense, LOL.
                Thank you Luke.
                I will find a way.
