  • Vbulletin 4 + cloudflare

    Hi guys,

Are there any known issues, annoyances, or complications running vb4.25 with cloudflare?

I would like to add cloudflare for ddos protection but I am not under any risk for dos attacks so I am looking to be convinced not to use it.

Will the cloudflare loading screen appear every time a page is refreshed? post made/edited, search functions too?

Final question, I dont think ive ever seen a forum run with SSL https. Is there any issues with this as well because cloudflare offers free SSL with an account?

Personally, I wouldn't touch Cloudflare. It invariably causes problems.

Ask yourself this - why are you trying to solve a problem you admit you don't have?

after I upgraded the components of the website vbulletin, mail, webserver, php, and mysql I went on a security high and ran a Web Site Security Audit scan and adjusted all the recommendations. I guess I got a little too excited and wanted to secure it further as Im not not sure what current protocols I have will actually prevent an actual ddos attack besides fail2ban. Like I said, Ive ran vbulletin products since 2004 and never had any sort of issue.

One thing I dont wish is a complex web server issue which I wont be able to troubleshoot.

Mark can u remind a ddos prevention procedure or product or do these present similar complications.
